I would like to acknowledge the land we are currently practising on is not ours. May we offer our gratitude to the culture, land and earth-based teachings of the Coast Salish Nations (hən̓ q ̓əmin̓ əm ̓ and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh). As well, I have practiced on the traditional, unceded land of the Ktunaxa and Okanagan peoples, let us understand they are the original creators of natural medicine. In addition to this, we must recognize the ancestral roots of yogic culture from India, specifically the Indus Valley, and the teachers who shared this practice with us here in the west. Let us thank them for bringing these teachings to the West.
May we pay respect and gratitude to the Indian ancestors who created, translated and generously shared this practice with us in the West. As a teacher of this culture, I honour the sacred wisdom brought down to us through the multiple generations of yoga practitioners. How to flourish and those who support it, must acknowledge these healing practises were built through traditional eastern texts including the original Vedas & Upanishads from the Indus Valley. Without this Indian culture & history, yoga would not be here. To offer yoga as a service to all types of people, making it accessible & affordable, is the a large goal of How to Flourish.
