Abby Verigin
After first discovering yoga during high school & college to help with anxiety as a student, her goal is to now share the benefits of this traditional practice with the world. Focusing on alignment practices to connect the mind, body & soul for a deeper understanding of the self, she emphasizes listening to & learning about your own body while attaining balance in life. Abby has been practising yoga for over 8 years, teaching for 3 and is currently working towards her C-IAYT in Vancouver, B.C.
Yoga for Abby offered a space to connect deeper with her body while not being stuck in the mind as someone who is always overthinking. As a student athlete in high school, she knows this practice could have helped her athletic performance in a variety of sports. She wishes she knew more about yoga as a teenager as this could have led to less harmful coping strategies while growing up. Her first year in college led to being placed on anti-anxiety meds without even a second thought from her doctor that there are other ways to help the mind heal.
Abby's vision is to spread awareness regarding the practice of yoga and how this can help others flourish in life. While educating her clients on physical movement pattersn, she hopes to share techniques to de-activate your nervous system through yoga that can be applied in everyday life. She knows how powerful this practice can be to take others our of the overthinking, fight or flight state and into the restful state of the parasympathetic nervous system.
By educating others on yogic philosophy, we can learn how yoga has the ability to bring us into the present moment of our consciousness. Living with strong anxiety since a teenager, Abby feels this is necessary in today's fast paced society. Classes with Abby are focused on modifying to your own abilities while listening to the body and honouring what it needs in that moment. Abby wants to help you create a toolbox of simple ways to feel better everyday.
Allowing yourself to flourish is a holistic journey. All systems and parts of your body are important for real growth and reaching your highest potential. This means connecting to your different dimensions of health including physical, emotional, occupational, social, spiritual, intellectual and environmental. Through this space, Abby hopes to educate and bring awareness to important issues within the health and wellness world.
